Alchemistical distillations
Czech, 1888
Accession No. 2000-88-cz
27" x 3" x 3"
This set of small but power-laden crucibles were found in a box labeled “alchemystical distillations” in the workshop of the Czech conjurer. The tiny bowls each contain the essences of one of the five elements of alchemy, and each has the alchemical symbol for that element etched into its surface. From bottom to top: fire, earth, water, air, spirit. A shelf of conjuring crucibles from the same workshop is also in the collection of the Museum.
